Arnold's Macaca Moment?

I suppose I should say something about today's LA Times story about an audiotape recording of the Governor practicing genetic theory by saying that Cubans and Puerto Ricans "have the, you know, part of the black blood in them and part of the Latino blood in them that together makes it."

On its own, I don't think this rises to the level of a full-blown Macaca moment, although I find it frankly hilarious to read Bill Bradley's breathless condemnations of reporter bias when he in the same breath recounts all sorts of intimate conversations he's had with the governor, and somehow thinks HE'S the one free of bias in this race. What did we really learn here that we didn't already know? The Governor likes women, likes to talk about women, has no filter when he talks about women, and has no understanding of biology. Where's the shocker here?

In fact, Arnold's public record is littered with comments far worse than this one (how about wanting to shove a woman's head in a toilet?). If voters want to take a look at that kind of insensitivity and lustfulness and make it a campaign issue, they're welcome to do so. He's apologized and you can take that for what it's worth.

This is the best backgrounder I've seen on the whole thing.
