This is What I Mean...

When I say "Question absolute truth."

The nutzoids in the insaneosphere have been getting a lot of mileage the last couple days out of their absolute belief that Larry Johnson, ex-CIA agent and respected figure on the left on national security matters, printed a forged document that noted food supplies coming into Iraq from Kuwait were being cut off. They based this on the fact that the stationery didn't look quite right and that any information contradictory to the belief that this is the Best War Evah must be excised.

Turns out that one email confirmed the veracity of the food supply memo.

Hi Chad,

These are great questions.

In short, the term “US Mission-Iraq” is how the military here generally refers to us; however, we at the Embassy simply call ourselves “the US Embassy” or, for the actual real estate on which we sit, “the Embassy compound.” As for the food-shortage notice, yes, it was a legitimate notice; however, food convoys have since begun to come in and we’re gradually getting back to normal.

Thanks for asking!

Now the insaneosphere is going into full ass-covering mode, claiming that they never questioned the authenticity of the document to begin with, a blatant falsehood.

All of this could have been avoided with one early email instead of hours of research on the type of eagle used in the stationery. But that would require a little questioning of your own assumptions.
