We Need Better Democrats

The saddest thing about this giveaway on FISA and crossing out of the Fourth Amendment is that the Congress was just starting to get its sea legs. They passed 9/11 Commission recommendations that will ensure all containers will be checked at the ports. They passed S-CHIP expansion in both Houses under threat of a Presidential veto. They passed a clean energy standard in the House that would raise the mandate for renewable sources of electricity to 15% by 2020 for the first time EVER. They passed the most sweeping ethics and lobbying reform in a generation. They pushed the Republicans on Iraq and set the stage for a long month of them listening to their constituents.

But despite these successes, all anyone will remember (myself included) is that they got trash-talked into sanctioning unaccountable data mining on Americans.
