More Republicans Walking Away
Today's entries are Tom Davis, who's in a very bluish seat in Northern Virginia, expected to retire this week; and Kenny Hulshof, who's likely to run for Governor in Missouri (as the incumbent Matt Blunt is walking away from a potential loss by stepping down after only one term) and will be abandoning his House seat. I think that makes 26 Republicans who have defected this cycle, an extraordinary number. And quite a lot of them are from swing districts.
There are some indicators that make a lot more sense than others. Politicians usually know a bit more than the average person about their chances. If they're all walking away, you can be sure there's a good reason.
