No-Go In Florida

There will be no revote in the Democratic primary in Florida. In the end there were too many obstacles, both financial and structural and political, to overcome. Hillary Clinton's donors can blame this on Howard Dean all they want, but nobody objected to the delegate stripping at the time, Clinton supporters and the DNC and Obama supporters alike. Perhaps that compromise Bill Nelson floated, to seat the delegations but take half their delegates away, will be accomplished. The point is that the system has to be reformed.

Charlie Crist has to be smiling. Florida had an outsized influence in the Republican primary; it pretty much decided it. That Democrats are being disenfranchised while Republicans got all the glory probably doesn't keep Crist up at night.

Obama really shouldn't be holding up the proposed Michigan revote, and he should let Florida be seated. This has been obvious for a couple weeks now.
