Beware The Pander Storm!

This ad on gas taxes is simply disgraceful.

Obama said no to gas taxes for all the right reasons - because it's bad policy that would do little more than give oil companies more profits. Adding a windfall profits tax (which I'm sure former oilman President Bush is just eager to sign) just makes it, as Paul Krugman says, pointless. The windfall profits will pay for the highway fund, the oil companies will add to gas prices to cover the taxes, and consumers will pay the same price at the pumps. It's the most ridiculous shell game I've ever seen, and Hillary is counting on no-information voters to buy it.

Then there's the "Clinton supporters can't use the Google" ad:

Really, we're going down the "Obama has no substance" road? REALLY?

Come closer, Jason Kinney. Here's Barack Obama's website. There's an entire section with his position on issues! There are white papers galore! And he's even explained those proposals in speeches! And in newspapers! And leading economists preferred them! Imagine that!

This is the worst kind of political pandering - with handouts to voters that aren't handouts, raising questions about the opponent that aren't questions. What a bunch of rubbish.

(By the way, if you want to use David Ignatius' boneheaded intellect as a selling point, go ahead. Really makes you look smart.)
