The Beltway Rules
Only one of John McCain's eight homes has been featured in Architectural Digest magazine, and sure the pool is big but it's not nearly Olympic-sized. So this cements his reputation as a man of the people. On the other hand, liberal elitist Barack Obama hobnobs with celebrities like his elderly grandmother and sister in exotic locales like the 50th state of Hawaii, which nobody save for 5 million or so West Coasters would ever be able to vacation on. But if you should ever demean the service of the fighting men and women who served at Pearl Harbor on the great American island of Hawaii, you'd be showing your knee-jerk liberal hatred of the military.
This all makes a lot more sense if you live in Washington.
(By the way, good on David Axelrod for taking a swing at McCain's luxurious lifestyle: “Obviously, his strategists met on the portico of the McCain estate in Sedona — or maybe in one of his six other houses — and decided what line of attack they were going to use." Jonathan Martin's whining that McCain doesn't technically have a portico is rich. Leave John McCain ALOOOOONE!!!)
