So yeah, the Chinese added some computer-generated fireworks to the opening ceremonies, and one of the singers was lip-synching. Somehow I don't think these are the worst things the Chinese have ever done; I think the whole authoritarian police state that represses sovereign nations and commits untold human rights abuses. I'll give them the lip-synching.

In other news, apparently David Brooks performs the same reductivist psychobabble on foreign nationals that he does on Americans.
