Inaugural Do-Over

John Roberts and Barack Obama retook the oath of office just now, out of an "abundance of caution." From Obama counsel Greg Craig:

"We believe that the oath of office was administered effectively and that the President was sworn in appropriately yesterday. But the oath appears in the Constitution itself. And out of an abundance of caution, because there was one word out of sequence, Chief Justice Roberts administered the oath a second time."

Obama joked that there are now going to be twelve more balls, but what he doesn't realize is that 2 million people were denied access to his inauguration! So much for the most open and transparent Presidency of modern times.

Also, with the second oath administered on January 21st, doesn't this violate the 20th Amendment, as long as we're being stupid, which says that the new President must be sworn in on January 20th? I don't think the wingnuts have lost steam on their lawsuits yet. Get creative!
