Like A Good Democrat
Arlen Specter (D-PA) just voted on the President's budget. Last time, when he was a Republican, he voted against it, along with every other Republican, Ben Nelson and Evan Bayh. This time, after the bills went through conference, he is a Democrat.
He still voted against it. So did Evan Bayh and Ben Nelson. The budget, nevertheless, passed, and has passed both houses of Congress without a single Republican vote.
Or without a vote from America's Next Top Democrat, Arlen Specter.
...more than anything, this is why the reconciliation instructions remain in this budget. Republicans have shown absolutely no willingness to support anything the Preisdent supports, almost by definition. So they need this threat of a majority vote to allow anything to get done.
...Hey, at least Specter knows how to kick those hippies in the teeth, right? This is a victory for moderates everywhere. I say give him the next 50 Meet The Presses in a row. By the way, keep dreaming that Specter's going to come aboard for the Employee Free Choice Act, Vice President Biden.
