In Defense of the RNC (!?!)
Aside from it being hilarious to watch Michael Steele circle the bowl and have his power shrink with every misappropriate statement and bad decision, I don't see the problem here. The Chairman of a political party should NOT have unilateral authority over spending. In California, this has led to some horrible outcomes, like the state Democratic Party funneling millions of dollars to legislative leaders instead of spending them on elections. Accountability and transparency are DESIRABLE outcomes, and I applaud those RNC members for ensuring a little more of that. Yes, Steele looks like an idiot, but a top-down bureaucratic structure inevitably corrodes the process. I'd rather that he made all the decisions.
