I mentioned this before, but due to the secret taping system installed in the United States Senate, we have documentary evidence of Republicans opposing as a rule the filibustering of judicial nominees, particularly for the Supreme Court. A sample:



Now, one could reverse this and say that Democrats called in the past for keeping open the option of filibusters. At this point, the onus is on the Republicans. They have the choice to filibuster or not. So they need to be held to the consequences of their past rhetoric. I actually haven't seen any Democrats demanding for a final vote, as of yet.
