The Reductio Ad Absurdum Of Armchair Warblogging

In general, I have a wide degree of latitude for US bloggers or commentators reporting on the events in other countries. We're allowed to have an opinion. Occasionally, however, it does fall into this kind of self-regarding feedback loop, where clicking on a petition or changing your background color on your blog to green becomes a revolutionary act. And the worst example of that actually comes from US Rep. Pete Hoekstra:

He's relating millions of people in the streets in Iran, risking death, to the GOP playing model Congress during the #dontgo movement to drill offshore for oil. You know, because the House turned off the microphones when it was out of session, and Iranian protesters were beaten to death.
