When it comes to our national security, keeping the likes of Barbara Boxer, Barney Frank and John Kerry in the loop would be the height of insanity. The only loop appropriate for most of the ninnies in Congress is one hanging from the branch of a very tall tree.

So far as I can tell, the only real difference between members of Congress and cockroaches is that one of the two species has a few more legs than the other.

Every Republican officeholder should be asked the question: are you with civil discourse, or with those advocating the lynching of Democratic politicians?

Health care will not be won by putting out bullet-pointed debunks. It will be won by calling attention to lobbyist-supported and -funded lynch mobs.

...we know where these riots will take place. They can be documented. The ringleaders can be questioned. They can be asked about Obama's birth certificate. They can be asked about Democrats (with the expected answer something like the call for lynching above). They can discredit themselves with their own words.

Aftermath of a Hangin'

Following up on John Boehner's Hang Speaker Pelosi comment, Democrats are certainly trying to make the Republican Minority Leader pay. Hoyer, Emanuel, Clyburn, Schakowsky, and Wasserman-Schultz are all out with comments, joining the early outrage from George Miller and this one from Ed Markey:

Assertions of physical violence toward the Speaker of the House have no place in the halls of Congress. Period. After a week stuck in an echo-chamber of their own making, this group of Republicans has turned ugly. Democracy is about settling differences through debate, without violence. It is unfortunate that the Minority Leader allowed violence to creep into his overheated rhetoric.

Checking Google News, the Politico, Roll Call, The Hill and the Chicago Tribune's politics blog have stories up about this. In other words, this hasn't broken through yet.

And I just don't think it will. Because after all, we're talking about a Republican threatening violence to a Democrat. This doesn't raise eyebrows in Washington. It just doesn't.

Lynching Party

Didn't no less than George Bush say the other day that lynching jokes and noose displays were out of bounds? Apparently Billo didn't get the message, so he decided to give his tribute to Black History Month.

In a discussion of recent comments made by Michelle Obama, Bill O'Reilly took a call from a listener who stated that, according to "a friend who had knowledge of her," Obama " 'is a very angry,' her word was 'militant woman.' " O'Reilly later stated: "I don't want to go on a lynching party against Michelle Obama unless there's evidence, hard facts, that say this is how the woman really feels. If that's how she really feels -- that America is a bad country or a flawed nation, whatever -- then that's legit. We'll track it down."

This is just the words of someone who's completely ignorant of history, ignorant of language, and ignorant of feelings. Given what normally happens after remarks like this, he'll be fired. I don't think it will happen or it should happen. I don't believe in censorship. I do think that he should be reminded, daily, of his own insensitivity and stupidity.
